Question by Blayer98 · Oct 24, 2014 at 07:52 PM · windowslock

UnauthorizedAccessException

UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path "C:\Users------\Desktop\gamename.sln" is denied.

I've never had this error before, Also, I never needed to run the program as Admin, since it worked fine before getting this error.

Any help available?

Edit: I've found a Temp folder, there's a file called UnityLockFile and 20 UnityTempFile files. Does this have anything to do with the problem?

I think the IDE you are using might haven put a lock on the solution and then somehow crashed without being able to release the lock. I am not sure how locking works on Windows, but on Linux I recall having to remove a .lock file or something similar.

@Blayer98, no, the file itself is either:

  1. Opened by another application(visual studio, some notepad type editor) and it has placed a file lock on it. Try a shutdown and reboot(warm) to see if perhaps something like $$anonymous$$onoDevelop had an instance running in memory but didn't shut down correctly(check your task manager(CTRL+ALT+$$anonymous$$ETE)).

  2. You need to execute the IDE in ad$$anonymous$$istration mode(less likely if you've been working on this for a while) and the location(your desktop/pokemon in the dark/ness).

  3. This game has system locations that are out of sync because you may have moved the project.

On another note, you can delete the csproj and sln files in the root, unity will recreate on the fly since they are generated based off your Unity Project which as you know by looking in the inspector, is already aware of your assets.

Nope, it's now saying that the unityproj files are denied?? It happens when I open $$anonymous$$onodevelop!

EDIT: i deleted every file in the main project folder. (NOT the folders!) It's working fine now!
